BURIED UPSIDE DOWN **(The King is Dead)** by Christopher Acker © June 12 2011
You may seduce the world into mourning you
But your death I discreetly celebrate
For I shall be the one to finally bury you
Now they've made you immortal, yet eternally disgraced.
The world will be better now you've gone away
You can't harm anyone once you're in the ground
And I will laugh over your decaying remains
After I've buried your body upside down
I will inflict the deepest wound one can suffer
Even after your death I will strike one final time
Desecrate your remains and those of your mother
Consider it justice for your unspeakable crime
They called you a king and ignored what you'd done
Then they cursed your name when you weren't around
You were a monster and not a king to anyone
Now you know why you've been buried upside down
Your subjects were sheep to be herded astray
By a rat among men and thats all you ever were
For only the vermin prospered during your reign
Your tyranny was a plague and I know the cure
I will eliminate your very name from history
And tear down all your monuments, statues and walls
No longer will your wealth or influence stop me
From storming your castle and burning it's halls
They mourn you now but in time they will find
Another to lead them all into a new golden age
The people will come to see your death as a sign
To look to the horizon, to finally turn the page
Fear not for your kingdom (as if you ever did)
Cry not for the lost adoration of your subjects
They will no longer need you (as if they ever did)
Think only of your remains being devoured by insects
Indeed it's a suitable fate for one such as you
To be laid to rest where you will never be found
Discarded and disgraced, turning cold and blue
No one ever knowing you were buried upside down
