Forbidden Knowledge

Forbidden Knowledge   ©Chris Acker 5-18-2009

To those who think not of the Earth or it's fate:
You cannot know the meaning of what I say
You've been taught to be ignorant is to be blessed.
Our truth is a curse, to learn it is to regret it.

But to you who seek knowledge: may you find answers.
The secrets of the universe revealed ever faster.
Be warned, for it is a burden to have this power,
The temptation to use it grows stronger by the hour.
The rewards are many, though the risks are too;
The costs are high, what will be taken from you?
Will the whole human race need be sacrificed?
The answer is "yes it will, its well worth the price."

To those who have seen the darkness to come:
You know what awaits your brothers and sons,
You must do your best to prepare for the worst
Know you now why this knowledge is cursed.

To all the believers who truly fear this fate:
Fewer will survive if many are afraid.
Your best hope is to find allies and friends
Then stand together as we near the end.
The masses will fall first, the ones who matter not,
The ones who waste their lives will be first to rot.
No one to run the show, leaving cities dark at night,
Our society crumbles when deprived of it's light.
For the few survivors the real hell has just begun
Very little food, and not enough water for everyone.

I share with you this knowledge, this curse,
In hopes you will change your world first,
Before the sky goes dark and we find it's too late
To undo the damage or to change our fate.
I've seen the fires for myself, I saw the stars blink out,
I can pretend it's not real, and submit to my doubt.
But should the day come when Earth becomes Hell,
I would share you're fate, and would regret how I didn't tell.
I've been to that future place, dark and burning
Was brought back to tell of a world that stopped turning.
If you let it happen, you all deserve to die out
You'll wish you hadn't survived to hear your children cry out.
If I had it my way, we'd already be gone
But alas, we're still here, the time has not yet come.
This is not a movie, nor a show on TV,
It's a chance to share what's been given to me.
I am not a prophet, nor savior it's true,
Just a man with knowledge to be given to you.
And now that you know what is to come,
For you to decide what is to be done.
